snake for a 10 gallon?

My brother wants to get a snake because ever since I have had them he wanted one, and now my mom says hes old enough. Well hes short on space and can't go bigger than a 10 gallon. My question is what would a good snake be for a 10 gallon?
A mice eater, good for a beginner. I know that a Rosy Boa and Sand boa would be good, but what else is there? Do hognoses stay small enough for a 10, and what about africna house snake? Thanks
