This is my 3rd boxie "Ed". He/She shows the characteristics of the Terapene Ornata Ornata however Ed has 3 back toes??? Help me out on this. Since both turtles appear in great numbers around my lakehouse could there be "hybrids" or "crosses" or does the ornate sometimes have 3 and 4 toes naturally?


Notice the radiating lines on the carapace.


The spotting on the throat seemed different to me however this turt is smaller than Lucky and Chip so it could just be a juvenile thing?


I'm also interested in the sex of this turtle. Eyes seem femal'ish don't they?


And finally the vent shot. Looks to be below shell ridge dunno if that could be because of age? This turtle is still at least 4yrs old if not more. Shell is over 4inches prob. more like 5.
