power compacts

hello
im settingup a 29 gallon viv, and iwas wondering how many watts should i go with a power compact light, i know they can get hot ( i have a salty tank and got burned by it) but they give off bright light which i know is good for some plants and moss. i dont want to over heat the tank but i want to keep my plants healty aslong with the frogs
