That sounds about right. I don't know what the lumen output is on the bulbs, or the Kelvin rating, but I don't think I would go with just one. I have found that my three 40 watt compact fluorescents give me the light range I need in a 24 inch tall tank (that's 120 watts total in a taller tank). I would generalize by saying that CF's put out about double the amount of light (lumens) to a normal bulb. Since you're dealing with a shorter tank, you'll probably be okay. However, I would recommend that you get a light that is between 5000K and 6500K in color (if that's possible).
