My son found us a lizard. Now how do I keep it alive? =}

I spent this last weekend trying to get my 6 y/o son to catch a fish. We didnt get anything bigger than an 8in. cutthrought trout. Nothing worth the time to clean and eat. So on Sun. the last day of our fishing for the week my son found this cool lizard (he thought so) and with himn not catching a fish I submited to his pleas to keep the lizard.
Now I am trying to keep it alive, and am having second thoughts like "is it legal and/or safe to keep it?" and "how do I keep it alive?"
I recived the answer to some of those questions. I take it it's legal to keep it, and it's a safe lizard to hold in captivity. BUT there is still this "How do I keep it alive? And happy...?" I am quite sure that it is a Northern Aligator Lizard just by looking at pictures of them online. No doubt there.
So far I put it in a 10 gal fish tank with just the fish tank rocks in it. I also put in 2 larg flat granit stone for it to "sun" on(covers about half the fish tank, and one overlaps the other so it can hide under it for cover.), and made a small "cave" with some other rocks in a corner and a small dish for water that it can crawl in and out of (I put little rocks in the bottom of the dish so that it cannot submerge in the water.) I also have a 100v desk lamp shinning in through the side onto the sunning rocks for 9 hours a day. I have small crickets from the pet store for him to eat. (I put in 8)
With the info that I have gotten from here I plan to remove all the little fish tank rocks and put in some soil/dirt and small tree limbs and bark for him to crawl around/under. I am confident about his habitat. I am just not sure about it's diet, and one informational site I checked mentioned a likly need to provide it mulivitamin supliments and calcium supliments. Should I? And in what form if I should?
