I think I agree with you. If someone lives in a home with other people, they had better think really hard if they are considering keeping venomous snakes. It is a personal choice that can impact the people around you. I know this first hand.
One must consider pets, siblings, parents, etc... If a parent is not comfortable with a child of theirs keeping venomous snakes, then the parent has every right to say "no", and this position should be respected.
On the other hand, if the parents want to take an active interest and supervise their kid in the husbandry and handling of hot snakes, and this kid displays a good amount of responsibility and maturity in this rea, then by all means...
I have met lots of "youngsters" that I would trust with venomous before many of the oldtimers I've seen. The younger folks tend to have a more realistic repect for the snakes, while oldtimers often get careless because they expect their years of experience to protect them.
