Mine go trough one endive, one romaine, one turnip green, and one collard or kale a day.Plus hay, which they hate, so I mix it in with the greens.
They are housed outdoors, year round, but have grazed all the grass down to nothing.
And the cost of food is not the only issue.
Bubba is burrowing still, he's at it all day.I've already lost half of my drip system, he dug it up. I live in Arizona a drip system is a must here, unless you want a totally bare yard.
Or have two hours or more a day to water every single plant, tree, grass etc.
He needs much more room, and his new home will provide that.
They'll have native grasses planted, so lots of year round grazing. Impossible here in Arizona.
I saw the photo of Tofu, my male Bubba is much bigger than him, and Angel is over 18", 60lbs.
This is not a decision I made lightly at all.
I'm commited to all my animals, every single one of them.
But when the time comes that I can't provide the proper care/large enough living area etc. Then it's time to find them a new home.
They are not being dumped, or sold back into the pet trade. They are going to a home with loads more room, a vet on hand, heated greenhouse and will only be joined by one more sulcata.Making a small non breeding group of 3, housed in an area completely designed with them in mind.
