Hey guys, I'm normally a snake guy, but have a sulcata that I absolutely love. However, I need you to fill in a few blanks for me. I've always been a proponent of unprocessed foods for my iguanas, but since my sulcata eats so much, have considered using Mazuri for the basis of his diet and supplementing with fresh greens and veggies. Are there any concerns with this type of diet? Do I need a calcium supplement with the Mazuri? If so, with vitamin D3 or not?
Also, I live in coastal North Carolina and our weather here right now still includes some occasional 70 degree days. What is the minimum temp that I can leave the sulcata outside to bask in the sun? I want him to get as much natural light as possible. One more thing, inside, I use a 160 watt Active UV Heat bulb above his enclosure. Is this the best, or is there a better way to light/heat the enclosure for the winter?
Thanks in advance for all of your help.
Derek B
