Anybody know what this wild plant is?

I have a wild plant that grows around here. My torts love it and want to eat it like candy. I don't know what it is, so I worry that it might not be good for them. The older folks around here call it "clover", but it's not like any clover I've ever seen. They also said that they use to pull it up and feed it to their rabbits and chickens.
If anybody knows what it is, I'd sure appreciate any info on it. I guess it would help to know where it grows....I live in SE Georgia near the coast.
