Russian Torts - - advice, please

Ok...so I am really doing my homework on this one (remember my Sulcatta incident?) Now, if I buy a Russian Tort...do I have to put it into hibernation? And if so, do I have to do so in the fridge (I read it in a book). And are there any other land torts that I wouldn't have to put into the fridge? I mean....I want to enjoy my pet...and I am afraid I do not have the training to put a tort into hibernation.....I am looking for any advice....I DID NOT buy any torts yet...what does anyone suggest
