About a month ago, my pair of yellow foots mated successfully. (instead of his normal failed attempt) The female, who is normally very shy, is constantly walking around and always out and about, even if I am in the yard. Normally, she disappears if she sees me. I am pretty sure she is wanting to lay. They are kept in a large brick yard that has large rock gardens. I put more dirt in the rock garden today to make it more "digable" for her. If she does indeed lay, should I leave the eggs in the ground or remove? What would give a better chance at a baby? I am hesitant to leave in the ground because I found a baby box turtle shell this morning that something ate! If I do remove from the ground, how do I do this and what do I do with the egg ? I live in Key West, so it is warm year round.
Thank you in advance.
