But there are three questions left,
hoping you can give us some answers.

In my personal experience in keeping & breeding
star tortoises, under the same diet,some specimens
develop horrible "pyramiding" which you'll diagnose it as MBD, yet some specimens show the
common flat carapace. All the specimens are good
in activities...standing up with four feet and
with very hardy carapace. I don't think that "pyramiding" is a MBD, rather it's jsut a
phenomenom of "over-rapid growth " and individual
genetic character.
Problems for a over pyramiding carapace seem to
be not at their health, I suppose, but at their breeding. The over domed vertebral carapace and narrowing space between the caudal carapace and plastron of the female will hinder the mating
of the male! That's the major problem I am concerned from the "pyramding"!
