Your answering is quite reasonable.
But I believe there are much work to be done before we understand what those tortoises
truly need.
I have notice that in this forum there are VERY
few high level people who have got the basic
background of biology, not to say reptilology.
People who study tortoise by the reason of academy always do not really have the experience
of keeping or breeding them. Yet people who
perform commercial farming do always not master
on bilology, they just do it by their own experience or myth.
You are the VERY few ones who master on the study
of tortoises. I feel what you lack of is you
do not keep or breed any one of them for a substantial time. It would be nice to walk out
your lab. to gain the true experience and real
touch of these tortoises, which would enrich your
data and make it more trustful.
We like to see your comments in this forum on
any topic, or,this forum would be just like a
dead water or desert, only talking every kind
of low level & un-nutritional issues!
