The male was purchased from a rather dirty pet store he was infested with pin worms. He's been treated and is doing just great. He is a completely different tortoise than the one that came home just about 10 days ago.

The females stool test came back showing no parasites.

Both tortoises are now outdoors in brand new roomy enclosures. After 6 months quarantine they will be introduced to eachother.

With any new tortoise captive bred or wild caught a vet visit including fecal float is recommended.

I have one captive bred sulcata that was heavily infested with parasites when I got him. Another one wasn't.

Only a vet visit and stool test will answer your question.

: I have a new Russian tortoise, but I'm confused about the soaking thing. I have been doing lots of research, but everything I read says something different. How often should I soak him, and for how long? once a week? twice a week? once a month? I'm getting very confused as to what is best for the guy. He is a few years old. Also, I've heard that lots of new torts have worms. Is this the case with captive bred ones too? Mine is captive bred, so could he still have worms?
