:As a general rule of thumb most tortoises reach their accepted full size in about 15 years or so, they keep growing after that but is extremely slow, and there are exceptions. Also young tortoises tend to grow faster than older tortoises. With this in mind a tortoise grows something like 1/4 its accepted mature size every 5 years. Again this is an estimate only. So, I would guess that your Russian is 10 yrs old at the minimum.
You also have to take into account that the tortoise is wild caught, and wild caught animals don't grow as fast or grow as large as healthy captive bred animals do.
