come on you guys! if someone is willing to check into the care of torts, they can be great pets for anyone. i have a 4 an 8 and an 18 year old. they all handle them carefully. i got my first when i was about 10, took care of him great! and sorry, but some tortoises DO enjoy being held. some of mine don't they are more shy, but some actually approach ME to get the contact. i'm a little tired of everyone on the forum assuming they are the only ones qualified to take care of a tortoise and no one else in the world should get one! A lot of people on this site are knowledgable and many more people could be if they are willing to do research and they aren't chased off the forum by everyone yelling back and forth. lets stick to answering newcomer's questions and HELPING them out instead of offending them!
