Ask someone who has lived and hunted in the SW. If you were in my shoes (or in herpers shoes who are from the southwest) you would vehemently disagree with your statement. When I first came to the south east I realized people here do not know the difference between one rosy locale from another because the gene pool was so polluted from unscrupoluos breeders sending out their crossed locales as something else. Of course the east coast herpers thought they had a San felipe or Corn Springs rosy boa. But they did not know what they had except what the seller "told" them. A west coast herper can usually tell you where the rosy is from just by looking at it.
: Also lets forget about taxonomy for a second. That has been debated into the ground and most Lichanura entusiasts disagree anyway. What makes these animals different more than any other snake is there unique differences from locale to locale. You don't actually "SEE" the different visual differences with OTHER colubrids and boids in the same subspecies. You DO with the rosy boas! If you collected the rosys you are looking for then you could appreciate the different rock piles and mountain ranges that produce vastly different looking rosy boas.

:As a known breeder of hybrids myself and having a breeding colony of over 300 rosy boas at one time I don't have a problem with someone crossing rosy boa locales. But the animals will be worth a whole lot more as pure.
:If one is NOT trying to start a "serious" breeding program for rosy boas and just likes the animals the seller has avaliable then I say go for it and .... enjoy!
