Ratsnakes are colubrids.
They have no frontal fangs, and no heat sensitive pits. All ratsnakes are constrictors.
Largest size is around 8', avg. size under 5'.
There are several main species, though, including elaphe obsoleta and guttata.
Ssp. get into mutiple morphs, and you can find a ratsnake of one kind or other in almost any color except maybe blue and purple(though some people swear by the lavender cornsnakes).
