can some1 help me taming my semi-rat.

My 3-way cross corn snake ( snow corn yellow rat bairds rat) eats perfectly sheds all in one peice and looks fine. But... he is not tame when i pick him up he runs and tries to bite do you think he will grow out of this. hes about 16 inches and hes about 5 months 10 days old. He eats and drinks fine looks healthy. His colors went from somewhat light, to brown and yellow to brown and gold and now to a dark brown. He is doing fine but i cant realy hold him. Only if i have to take him out to show a friend and i will have to hold behind the neck so he doesnt try to bite or run. (no pressure) Well anyway any help advice or tips wud be apreciated.
