Blonde Trans-Pecos rats: is there a wild population?

Is this trait a fluke in the wild, like albinism, or is there a locality where this trait occurs often? What about the silver subocs - is there a region where some exist in wild populations? One more - why does the silver trait always accompany the blonde trait? Just curious.
