Hi John
This non feeding behaviour is very common amongst longissima and some other ratsnakes like situla, hohenackeri, mandarina, dione and some other species. My longissima also rejects eating when temperature rises. On the other hand they are very active when temperature is relatively low. One year my hibernation temperature was about 12*C and they ate and digested (surprice surprice).
Elaphe longissima lived in Denmark untill 1861, so I will try to keep it in my outdoor terraria as soon as I can find a way to make it escapeproof. They are the best to find a way to run out. Houdini would be proud.
It is interesting to see Russian longissimas. Do you have any information on from where in Russia?
Best wishes
Søe
