This is one of my yearling female longissimas from a Russian locale. They may not be the most colorful ratsnakes but they are interesting snakes though. As hatchlings they were the most voracious snakes I believe I've ever had, they never refused food even while in shed. Then... boom... in mid April they stopped feeding and did not start on a regular basis until just a couple of weeks ago. The male and one female would eat sporadically and the other female did not eat at all. They did not lose any weight and even shed a time or two. All of this is normal for this species during the warm months. Here in NC our summer was not that hot this year but when we did have some warm spells they were quite restless and seemed uncomfortable. Anyway, they are magically back to feeding again and its time to get them up to size.
