I have always thought there were misconceptions in the snake marketplace regarding the value of "investment" quality snakes.
One of them is that expensive animals will hold their value. This isn't true, because their value is, in large part, due to their rarity in the hobby. As more people buy and breed them, the value (rarity) will go down. Hopefully there will be an accompanying increase in sales of offspring as the value goes down to allow people to recover their initial "investment".
Although you may be willing to have paid $1000+ (or even $750) for coxi, most people won't. And not necessarily because they can't afford it. Coxi simply aren't "worth" that much to them. If they were $150, then maybe I would look at them (although they are a little high strung for me).
There are a lot of cool snakes out there that I have been wanting and watching prices on for over 20 years. I still don't have them, because they are priced more than I am willing to pay. I finally bought a pair of black milks because they finally came down to where I was willing to pay. They have subsequently come down even more. I don't care. I didn't buy them to make money, just to have them.
Badmouthing the guy in Vegas for selling leopard geckos is kind of odd in this context. If you weren't getting coxi to make money (even if it is only to recoup your outlay for your breeders), you wouldn't care if coxi were $10 each. The reason you seem concerned is that the monetary value of your snakes is decreasing.
Just my $0.01 (sorry, I'm undercutting your price!).
