Are you sure it isn't "Elaphe" rufodorsata? That is a very similar looking snake that will eat fish (and not mice). Regardless of the species, frozen mice are a better food source that is a lot more convenient and has a much lower chance of passing internal parasites to your snake.
I belive the thiaminase (the enzyme that breaks down thiamine) problem exists in all fish, by the way, not just goldfish. However, I don't believe it is a problem if you feed live fish, rather than frozen. But, I am sure someone with more specific knowledge on the issue will chime in.
