I recently obtained a snake, which I was able to identify as "C. Chinese Dion's ratsnake, Elaphe dione." From a older article by Terri Cox. I had seen this snake in a local pet store, listed as "Chinese Corn Snakes". I knew it didn't look like a corn snake, so I came back to this website which I had found a few days earlier. I asked what a chinese corn was. I had a good response from people. I finally got the snake, and I was able to match it with a picture from Terry Cox , and I was wondering if anyone had any care sheets, or info I could get on how to care for them. I am keeping the cage fairly dry, with ocasional mistings (every couple days)...not keeping it very humid, just a touch, temps about 75 at one end, to 85 in the other , with several hide boxes, rocks to scratch on, big bowl of water, and a cup with Rosy Red Minnows for it to eat. I have an under the tank heater under one side of the tank to keep it warm, but still the other side cool so it can choose when the heat lamp isn't on (at night). I was planning on going to another (more reputable) petstore tommorrow and seeing about getting some pinkies to see if it will eat them. I still want to keep it on a large portion of fish , NOT goldfish according to what I've seen, because of Thiamine or something like that. I've had it for a week now, and it seems happy, after three days I started handling it for 20-30 a night, and it seems very friendly. Just wanted to make sure I was doing ok...any advice would be appreciated.
