They are really not that rare in nature, but in captivity yes. They come from a difficult area politically and do not get very large. So finding them may be a bit difficult.
I would have to disagree on their likeness to gonyosoma, I have kept both and the only likeness I can attibute is their ocular area of the head, and that is superficial.
If I were to take a guess, I would say that there are maybe 25 or more E.prasina in the U.S. now.
So they are not really that common yet in collections, but they are easy to breed and are fairly hardy so I assume that will change rather quickly over the next few years.
I have a clutch due to hatch in about a week, may have pics of them hatching soon.
