All posters:)
I haven't kept prasina, but from my work with other Asians, and talking to many of the Asian specialists, I think I can make a couple comments. This is a beautiful, and not too difficult species to keep for someone used to Asian Elaphe. It would be difficult for me to make a stand on taxonomy, but believe they could be related to both Elaphe and Gonyosoma. I have mostly talked to Rex Knight and Walt Deptula about this species, and the price is around $1500/pr. There are several other breeders who have them and produce them, obviously, like Matt. They have been captive produced for several years now, and would be more common in collections, except the price is holding where it's at.
Natural History can be gotten from Schulz ('96). They are montane in tropical or subtropical regions, but are fairly cool adapted because of high altitude. They are at least partially arboreal. They should take small mice, like most other Elaphe. They would probably brumate for several months. I'd like to try this beautiful species some day too!

: They are really not that rare in nature, but in captivity yes. They come from a difficult area politically and do not get very large. So finding them may be a bit difficult.
: I would have to disagree on their likeness to gonyosoma, I have kept both and the only likeness I can attibute is their ocular area of the head, and that is superficial.
: If I were to take a guess, I would say that there are maybe 25 or more E.prasina in the U.S. now.
: So they are not really that common yet in collections, but they are easy to breed and are fairly hardy so I assume that will change rather quickly over the next few years.
: I have a clutch due to hatch in about a week, may have pics of them hatching soon.
