: Well, I've actually never seen one for sale here in Indiana. Admittedly, that's just with local pet stores and a couple trips to the Indianapolis reptile show
Heheh, coincidentally one of my adult breeder male leucistics came from the Indy show. Bought him there in early 1997 as an adult. A lot of my other obsoleta breeding stock came from there as well, from Joe Street when he was in business. I came home from that show every month with a sackful of hatchlings. I also bought some stuff from Joe each month at the Evansville show at Vanderburg (sp?) Auditorium. It's a shame that show is now defunct.
: but still... in that time I've seen quite a number of black rat snakes, and a couple of grey and yellow rats, for sale...
Hmmm, unless they were albinos, you might want to give the Indiana DNR a call. Last time I checked it was against Indiana state law to sell black or grey rats of the normal flavor. That is why I stopped going to the Indy show a few years back, because I couldnt buy obsoleta anymore (except albinos) and also because my friend Joe Street got out of the business. It just wasn't worth the 4 1/2 hour drive anymore, :)
: Besides, `the most popular obsoleta' isn't that impressive, 'cause obsoletas just aren't very popular...
Very true, in the mainstream they aren't very popular. But that's OK, I like it like that. I can go to a show and have the pick of what is available, since no one else is even remotely interested in them. :)
: I don't know, there are a lot of amel. black rats, too, though god knows why, given how they look...
Yeah, they are quite 'strikingly' ugly I will have to agree. ;0
Later,
