I agree with KJ. Don't give up before you even start. I've heard the same stories about finicky subocs eaters: only feed pinks, only feed live, only feed dead, don't have water available when they eat, have water available only sporadically, the whole nine yards. I have 2.2 wild caught and they all pound dead adult mice and I have water available at all times. I did have a bit of trouble with the first suboc I caught though: he wouldn't eat with any sort of audience around or lights on. So I either turned off all the lights in the room whenever he ate, or I simply put him into a 30 gallon trash can and he eats like a champ. I think they're just really shy.
