Hi Terry
Yes I was asking a philosophical question for a reason. I start to fear that someday it might be impossible to get a corn or any other snake without albino-gens. Seeing the destructure of habitats in the wild many species could need a reintroduction to nature in a not so far future. Goverment people often believes that the zoos are able to maintain almost all animals, and they should be the supliers of the animals, but without the private sector this is an impossible task. The problem from a hobbyist point of wiew is that most people isn`t keeping their bloodlines clean and mix all sorts of color variations or subspecies in stead of working on purity.
I really hope that one day there will be a new goal among reptile keepers.
Anyone working with Killifish knows what I am talking about. A real killifish that is highly asked for isn`t a color variation but a fish with a precise locality attached to the name like Roloffia occidentalis "Makeni" from Makeni village in Sierra Leone.
That is really my hope. Imagine a request like:
I want a Elaphe situla male from Krim peninsula.
That will be the day.......
Enough philosophical thoughts.... I am still dreaming......and hoping
I still cannot understand why there isn`t more people trying to build outdoor arrangements for their reptiles. The bills for electricity gets reduced to about nothing and the joy of seeing the animals in a "natural" inviroment is impossible to put on paper. In USA the climate is perfect for at least a summer vacation in the garden, so why ??????
Best wishes
Søe
