wild-caught Black Rat Snake

i'm wondering if there is some validity in what Will Leary was talking about in an earlier post, ie Black Rats and Corns interbreeding. last year, i found 2 Corns that had a blackish cast to their dorsums. now, this Black Rat exhibits traces of yellowish-orange on its belly(see other pic). i don't believe i've ever noticed this color on Black Rats before.this pic shows the snake in typical defense posture.
