:of the other black rat snakes yu posted pics awhile back. We need to see if there is overlapping of the ranges of obsoleta and guttata in that locale. If there is, then there defiantely could be crossing of obsoleta and guttata. Offspring could then show signs such color and traits that were influenced by either parental stock.

::i'm wondering if there is some validity in what Will Leary was talking about in an earlier post, ie Black Rats and Corns interbreeding. last year, i found 2 Corns that had a blackish cast to their dorsums. now, this Black Rat exhibits traces of yellowish-orange on its belly(see other pic). i don't believe i've ever noticed this color on Black Rats before.this pic shows the snake in typical defense posture.
