In Reply to: Why is it fishy that they are from europe???????? posted by rainmaker on February 27, 2003 at 11:23:34:

when you are responding to a post requesting your opinion. I used suspicion, Paul himself used doubt. You're correct rainmaker it seems morphs are less accepted and inquired for in Europe. Lineage and localities are also higher on the Europeans lists. I can't imaginge (although it can and may have in this case) someone either taking or importing Bairdi to Germany without any lineage or locale data. The inquiries and popularity in Pituophis has grown alot over the last few years. Locality and lineage is one of the first things asked. I could see where a guy in Texas might say fishy from the standpoint of someone producing an albino, amel, or hypo (whichever we decide to call it) of a snake native to their own state. I hope this gives us a kick start for breeding Bairdi because there are some morph genes in them apparently. I mentioned the snake that was crossed to the Bairds was even named. The snakes are pure unless the ones who say they aren't come up with something. I've always seen Todd and/or Glenn advertise or call them albino Bairdi. If you go with the breeder on pure; then you go with the name albino. You may not agree or like that name, but your founders from them are albinos. If you want to produce amels then its in your court and you can call them what you would like. Good luck rainmaker and everyone. I really enjoy these bairdi threads. I started out a few weeks ago saying the albinos didn't look as nice as normals in my opinion. Now, I wish I would have stopped and listend to Glenn when he would ask do I want an albino or het bairdi.

:: First off they like normal animals better than we do.They are not at that high on morphs over there.Look at the albino hondos?
:I heard from the horses mouth that there was a het male sold at the orlando show several several years ago.Bill bought it and started his long project from one het male.
:also, somebody said it didn't look amel to them?Who said they were amel?Nobody!they are albino.Albino doesn't always mean amel.I would have to say they are probably a extreme hypo or maybe a t+ albino.I have seen and held these snakes and in no way are they hybrids.

:have fun,
