i have a juvenile Texas Rat that hasn't been eating well on his own for a while now. this past weekend, i force fed him 5 pinkies and so far he's fine. when you have to force feed, how long should you do it? should i give him a little while and then try to let him eat on his own? earlier, i tried putting him in a small container alone with a pinky, but no luck. when i force feed, i hold him very gently with one hand and rub the pinky lightly on his nose with the other. after a few seconds, he usually opens his mouth and grabs the pinky. then, i slowly set him down and let go so he can finish eating. is this stressful on him? if anyone has any experience with this i appreciate the advice. this is the same snake that got away and was gone for a month. i'm just concerned for his health and well-being.
thanks!
