:In the past, I've followed the wall around and checked every hiding place along the way. I have found snakes trying to get into mice tanks so you may want to try something like that. And last, some people lay flour in areas in hopes to create snake tracks.
Two hopeful stories - I lost a few babies snakes due to faulty containers this past year. One was found OUTSIDE of my house under my doormat weeks after being lost and the other had gotten under the rug of my bedroom. I awoke to a sound and when I pulled the rug up, there he was slightly caught on a piece of tape (no harm done).
