Hi,
I have two Russian Ratsnake babies, a male and a female, and I read on an internet site that sometimes you can tell the sex by the tail length and the degree of angle from the vent to the end of the tail. I looked at both of my snakes and really didn't notice much difference in length or angle. I did notice one difference though. One of the snakes has a single row of ventral scales from the vent to the end of the tail. The other one has double ventral scales, looking almost like a braided pattern, from the vent to the end of the tail. Is this an indicator? I was hoping perhaps one of you folks that have bred these snakes might know. Thanks for your help.
