:> ... It should come as no surprise to anyone that there is corruption in every situation where there are human beings, including science. Come off your high horse sir. Your industry is no different than any other in that it is driven by human desires...
:Funny, that sounds just like what *I* said in a previous post. So what exactly is the "high horse" I'm riding?
:> ... By your definition I may be a rumor monger...
:It's not just my definition. Check any dictionary you like to see if it isn't an apt description for what you did.
:> ... but I was simply making a statement that I think anyone who can reason 10% of the time can clearly see could be the case...
:Is that REALLY all you think you did? If so, maybe you should go back and read what you wrote again in a couple of days. Just for added fun, try to imagine yourself a member of the profession you maligned and see what you think.
:> ... If you decide to judge me because I have said something...
:I have no desire to judge you or your actions for ANY reason, but I won't sit idly by while someone rumor mongers about my profession. Perhaps one of the reasons so much nonsense is said about scientists is partially because so few are willing to stand up against it - but that's decidedly not me. For that matter, I think it's pretty disgusting behavior to hurl unfounded accusations against people of ANY profession, be they scientists, plumbers, doctors, whatever, and I'm reasonably likely to call anyone on it whenever I see it.
:> ... I am rational enough to still consider you a good guy who is just doing the best he can...
:And I you. If you like, think of my contribution to this thread as my effort to help you become a better person. Believe it or not, I'd welcome such criticism of my own behavior when it is warranted. In any event, I've either gotten through to you or I haven't; I see no reason to continue with this further.

Sir,
If you are just trying to help, why won't you bring your knowledge to the table? We are discussing the possibility of whether this snake was wild caught and whether that could be determined by genetic testing. I have reported that I do not believe that this species can be proven genetically to come from a specific county in a specific state. My adversary has claimed that he believes it could be and must be to be proven as a locality specific animal. You will not breach this subject, and instead focus on a statement that I made that charged you emotionally. I know this is the case because you ask me how I would feel if I was in your shoes. To answer that question I would say that there are people in my industry that are corrupted and that I try my hardest not to be. If becoming a better person means being more like you, I don't want to be. You are playing the oldest trick in the book. It is malicious passive aggression. You say things like, "I want to help you become a better person" which makes you sound like a nice guy, but you refuse to answer the posed question and instead focus on a statement I made that hurt your feelings. I am nice to people who seem decent and treat me well. You are not doing that. You are acting nice and trying to make me appear otherwise because I hurt your feelings. I am sorry that I hurt your feelings, I most certainly did not intend to. I wish that you would get past your feelings and bring your expierience to the table so that the argument that SBOGILL and I are having may come a little bit closer to some form of a solution. If my snakes are questionable and there is a way that I can prove they are not through the use of scientific methods I am willing to move forward. As stated before, I do not need a guy in a white smock to tell me I have an obsoleta. What I need is a professional person to explain in detail exactly what can be determined through genetic testing. Can you do this? Can you help me? Will you help us all by shedding some light on this subject. If you are a hard working honest scientist than my statement about fudging results shouldn't mean much because you should know that they are not directed at you. If you are a nice guy who wants to be helpful, you would hopefully get past my harsh words and your hurt feelings and apply your knowledge so that my opinion about this subject might change. Instead you have said you will not speak about the subject anymore. I hope you will so that all of us rat snake guys and gals can get a little lesson on genetic testing. K.E.
