Describe the snake for us. A picture would be excellent. If it is indeed a rat snake it would eat baby (pinky) mice at that size. If you are sincerely interested in keeping it you need to know a little more than just that. I recommend that you read a rat snake 'care sheet'. Here is a link to a good Corn Snake care sheet; the info within which is also applicable and appropriate for a Rat Snake.
