It's probably a hatchling... and black rats can have attitudes! Most will calm down, but it could take a while. And don't worry, the bites don't hurt. I imagine a feeding bite from a 6 ft snake could be a tad uncomfortable, but just a strike bite gets a bit of blood, and the hatchling bites are just funny!
