That's a black rat snake for sure... Kentucky style, lol. They are variable here in the bluegrass state and the snake pictured is quite typical of what I see in western and south central Kentucky. Some have shades of yellow, green, grey, brown, etc and are different looking. I have heard that snakes from Ohio, Indiana and eastern Illinois share similar characteristics, but have never personally found rat snakes in the wild in those states.
