The yolk often partially coagulates several days after oviposion, that may cause some problems for fluid extraction as well as dead embryo often partially developed and present in the retained eggs. Both Melissa Kaplan`s herp site and Ross and Marzec`book on the reproductive husbandry of pythons and boas spell "aspiration", I thought that was correct, nevermind,that is the same and both provide just very general info on this procedure. They are very good sources though. I was very confused, cause 2 herp vets I spoke to via mail list said NO-NO in regard to this method insisting on surgery to be done if the prior hormonal treatment failed. I do respect and can understand their opinion, but if we have a slightest chance to save both, snake and its reproductive function, why not to try?
I`d like to know if your Rhino will recover completely, at least, I hope so, good luck and congrats on your huge clutch!
