I have seen some red between the scales of wild caught black rats here in Pa.The first one I ever caught was like that.The one I have now is a shiney jet black male with no trace of a pattern visable unless he is full of rat,then you can see the white between his scales.I just love these snakes and have been looking for a female to pair him up with but I'm not having any luck.
