Raw meat as food - yes and NO

Yes you can feed raw meat to your Nile. It will love it. The best raw meat is in the form of whole freshly killed animals. (mice, rats, chicks.) If you feed raw ground meat or cuts of meat you run two risks: One, cuts and ground meat do NOT constitute a balanced diet. Two, bacteria.

You could eat raw meat yourself or raw eggs. Probably you could go without a serious infection for some time, but eventually you would get food poisoning. The same could happen to your lizard.

Cook all ground or cuts of meat. If you feed ground or cut meat, suppliment with vitamins/minerals and very the diet.

I personally have been having good success with HIGH QUALITY cat food.
