Sand is not restricted to the Desert only. There are sands of many different types in ALL environments. Maybe that is what you were trying to say, but he did not say that they lived on 100% sand either. "Contact with" and living exclusively on are two very different things. Leos inevitably come in contact with and probably ingest some of it. I believe there is no "maybe" about it. There is soil and sand of some type where they live.

What it all boils down to is that everyone has to make choices based on their experiences. His experience indicates that, based on his husbandry, sand is ok. I do not think it is right to flame him for that.

In addition, for every gecko that has gotten impacted with sand or any other substance including the food that they eat, many more die of poor husbandry and neglect. Are you going to stop feeding your geckos because it is possible for it to become inpacted on crickets or mealies? It happens.

:They live on a more rocky soil..with maybe some sand. And who is to say that wild leos don't get impactions from it??? Besides, leos feet were not made for sand but for rocks.
