: Since when did statelines become taxonomic units? The same snake species can and do occur across statelines and even across the continent in some instances. I do choose not to acknowledge subspecies and my reason for doing so are based on sound biology. I doubt you can say the same for your support of subspecies. Your claims on this forum demonstrate a clear lack of information in many instances. You claimed earlier that hobbyiest were more familiar with Texas herp populations than biologists and implied that no population work is being done with them. This is complete hog wash. There are probably more than a hundred biologists currently working with population dynamics of Texas herps right now. Just because you don't read about it in Reptile Hobbyiest doesn't mean that they don't exist. You also claimed that in NJ a poacher knew more about bog turtles than any biologists in the state. Once again more hog wash from you. One only needs to look at the work Mr. Zappolorti and Mr. Reinhardt have accumulated for over thirty years to see you are full of it. All too often unfounded claims such as these are repeated again and again. By posting such misinformation you are doing far more harm than good. Who are you to tell me not to post here? I at least can back what I say with some shred of scientific basis or historical reality.

I am curious. Is it biologists for the fish and game departments that have given the OK to plant non-native fish into our lakes and streams. Where bass have wiped out the tadpoles and frogs in some of these bodies. Was it biologists that OK'D the release of cane toads to control the beatles. Biologists have made countless blunders in our environment. They always acknowledge later that it was a mistake. They are willing to put there signiture on the line, when it comes attached with a paycheck, and to appeal to the masses. We want the same respect as the masses, on a smaller level. I do not believe biologists always look at issues with open eyes. It is either indoctrinated in school or later with the dangle of a paycheck. Our waterways are poluted with non-native fish and vertebrates. What gave the DNRS the right, to screw everything up. See if you can talk some sense into these guys. Who knows maybe they will need you for a job some day or offer you a grant. Good idea not to muddy those waters, eh? Is there anyone else that can name even more fiasco's in the environment that were ok'd by biologists. We are not promoting anything on the level of the polution of the environment that the biologists and DNR'S have already done. We have cases here in Utah where fish planted by wildlife biologists have already screwed up indigenous animals and invertebrates. So what gives you guys the license to play god. We don't want to screw anything up. We just want to enjoy it sensibly, and logically. Biologists have created some of the greatest harm in terms of wildlife purity.
