Why would these species be introduced? Because uninformed citizens thought it would be neat to have something else to shoot at. This is the work of game biologists not conservation biologists. None of me peers supports releasing non-native organisms or in most instances even native ones. I have often tried to talk sense into game biologists on these issues. I have argued at length about the release of thousands of pheasants every year in my state when they are not even native to the continent. I agree whole-heartedly that the release of captive animals has screwed things up royally. I hope you will support efforts to stop captive animals from being released into the wild.
