ownership of gaboon viper in North Carolina HELP!

I was the proud owner of a cb adult female gaboon viper. I wasn't aware of any laws regarding this species in North Carolina (the police said I need to have permits). Where can I find out the county laws (Transylvania county) for owning this species. I was compliant with all state laws regarding owning her. How can I get her back. They didnt destroy her, she was turned over to the local nature center. I don't have an email at this time, but if you want to post here or call me, my number is 828-862-4041. I just need help getting her back.
