In Reply to: Flagyl tocicity...Come on guys, give me some answers!! posted by Carll on January 20, 2002 at 11:23:27:
Carl,
I can tell you that I have 3 adult wild caught yellowtails that are all well established now. Upon getting each, I had my vet provide me with a flagyl/panacure mix.
I don't have the exact mixture ratio readily available (can get it from the vet) but he gave me the same mixture he suggests for any import snake, that is administered orally (tube) twice. Once right away, then a second dose after about 2-3 weeks. THe dosage is 1 cc per kg of snake.
I have had no adverse effects and the snakes arre all healthy.
I CAN tell you that Ivermectin (sp?) is toxic to indigos. A florida vet no-knowingly killed several study indigos by treating them with ivermec for parasites.
hope this helps...
Dean A.
THe dosage has always
