i know of no herps that tolerate ivermectin.
one of the only times i used it, i gave the recommended dose to a wild caught melleri chameleon. within a few minutes, it was obvious that i'd just executed the animal. he was dead about 45 minutes later.
i was later told by a friend that worked at the long beach animal hospital (where dr doug mader worked) that ivermectin is extremely toxic to reptiles, and that the only time to use it on a herp is to give it to a very healthy animal.
oh, and i believe it's fairly well tolerated externally, to rid the animal of external parasites (use a dilute spray).
: Carl,
: I can tell you that I have 3 adult wild caught yellowtails that are all well established now. Upon getting each, I had my vet provide me with a flagyl/panacure mix.
: I don't have the exact mixture ratio readily available (can get it from the vet) but he gave me the same mixture he suggests for any import snake, that is administered orally (tube) twice. Once right away, then a second dose after about 2-3 weeks. THe dosage is 1 cc per kg of snake.
: I have had no adverse effects and the snakes arre all healthy.
: I CAN tell you that Ivermectin (sp?) is toxic to indigos. A florida vet no-knowingly killed several study indigos by treating them with ivermec for parasites.
: hope this helps...

: THe dosage has always
