I had a male several years back that rubbed his rostral scale completely off. On the recommendation of my vet, I began applying "Nu-Skin" liquid bandage. (you can get at any drug store)> it's a good antimicrobial...and it helps protect from debris in the wound. If you use, be careful not tho get it in the nostrils. Several sheds went by...and although it appeared to be healing nicely, each time he shed, he would open it right back from the rubbing. Then I got an idea...next time he went into shed, about 2 days after his "opaque" cycle had cleared up, I soaked him for several hours and then very carefully shed him by hand. I carefully pulled all the skin off around the nose so he did not have to rub. After twice doing this...the nose was 100% healed.
